WHAT IS SOC 2?

SOC is an acronym for Systems and Organizational Controls, which was coined by the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (AICPA). A SOC report is the result of a thorough audit by an external auditor.

SOC 2 Type 2 examines your organization's internal controls at a specific point in time. It evaluates your organization's SOC 2 compliance posture and determines whether the controls in place meet the requirements of the framework. A SOC 2 report demonstrates that a service organization has secure control over the systems and processes that handle private or sensitive data for its customers. SOC 2 is based on five trust criteria and includes the following modules:

• Security: During both processing and storage, information is protected from unauthorized access and damage.
• Availability:  Systems are monitored, and well-maintained.
• Confidentiality: Sensitive information is safeguarded in accordance with applicable laws or contractual agreements.
