Key Responsibilities:
As Tax Specialist:
- Prepare personal and business tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Stay up to date with changes in tax laws and regulations.
As Bookkeeper:
- Post and reconcile bank and credit card transactions.
- Set up loans and reconcile on a periodic basis with loan statements.
- Post invoices, invoice payments, bills, and bill payments.
- Process payroll, post to GL, and reconcile with payroll reports.
- Manage/adjust inventory.
- Track income and expenses by class, job, and location.
- Adjust books to accrual basis.
- Month-end close and financial statement preparation.
In both roles:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including accountants and advisors, to provide comprehensive financial services to clients.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, demonstrating exceptional communication and client service skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or foreign equivalent
- 1+ years of experience in tax preparation (both personal and business returns).
- 1+ years of experience in bookkeeping.
- Preference given to experience with Drake tax prep software.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks - online version. ProAdvisor certified in QuickBooks Online. (SBS Accounting is willing to hire candidates without these certifications, but will require that they be obtained within 60 days of hire.)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Adept at using technology and switching quickly between applications.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
